Where Stories Meet Space
Every May Residential home tells a story — and this one begins with Jeff and Deb Baron’s journey from Boston to the Lowcountry. When the couple envisioned a space that embraced the warmth of Hilton Head while honoring their northern roots, our design team set out to create a room built for gathering.
Their great room in Berkeley Hall does more than connect the kitchen, living, and dining areas — it connects people, memories, and moments. The result? A design where every beam, stone, and window reflects the art of living beautifully.
Designing for Connection
The layout was crafted with togetherness in mind. Expansive windows invite the sunlight in from both sides, while 10-foot sliding glass doors lead seamlessly to a backyard patio drenched in southern light.
Inside, the dining table — handmade from reclaimed Jim Beam rickhouse wood — becomes the heart of the home. Its warm tones bring a touch of Boston edge to a Lowcountry setting, grounding the space in both heritage and hospitality.
Southern Light Meets Northern Craft
Every design detail pays homage to craftsmanship. The chandelier from Lowcountry Originals in Bluffton — sculpted like feathered palm leaves — captures the essence of place, while celebrating artistry from just down the road.
Curved armchairs, natural stone, and exposed beams mirror one another in texture and form, tying the open-concept layout together. A glass coffee table centers the space, offering a modern pause amid the organic materials.
Luxury That Breathes
This home celebrates intentional simplicity. The color palette of warm neutrals and soft creams allows the architecture to speak for itself. The stone fireplace draws the eye, but never dominates — instead, it invites you to look around, to appreciate the conversation between light, texture, and proportion.
It’s a space designed not just to impress, but to welcome. From morning coffee in the breakfast nook to quiet evenings by the fire, this great room embodies what May Residential calls “living with purpose and peace.”
A Living Story of Modern Southern Ease
Much like the homeowners, this space bridges worlds — blending northern heritage with southern ease. It’s both a fresh start and a continuation of a story, one that celebrates connection, comfort, and craftsmanship.
At May Residential, we believe true luxury lies not in extravagance, but in authenticity. This Berkeley Hall home stands as a testament to that belief — where modern design meets heartfelt living, and where every guest feels at home.
